What we saw

The Executive Director of Pelsung emailed a signed official letter, on behalf of Pelsung, to the Department of Public Health, setting out Druk Help’s mission: to bring community-based care to care receivers and their families at home.

Personal reflection

Why did we come for the meeting? We hoped the letter would help understand, Druk Help is a program built on care, compassion and the philosophy of Gross National Happiness. We needed the Department’s approval to move ahead and begin initiating home care grid programs. We also hoped it would open the door to work with the Ministry of Health and building trust with them.

What happened? After reviewing the letter, the Department of Public Health approved Druk Help for the National Homecare Grid. For our team, this is a great achievement and a sign of trust in what we are building. What began as a knowledge transfer program now has a place in the nation’s network of home care, and the approval will help us initiate the pilot training programs scheduled for next month.

What’s next? The approval for the National Homecare Grid is a important step on our way forward. It is the gateway for our project, where Druk Help could begin to initiate home care grid programs. Approval is a gateway, not the destination. The real work lies ahead: training volunteers, building the programs, and making sure care reaches every care receiver.
